The Devolution Ministry’s principal secretary, Julius Korir, is indicted on assault charges after allegedly beating his wife. His take on decentralization in the family unit was clear as he resulted in extreme physical communication with his estranged better half due to being denied food meant for the children. The PS moved to the High court to challenge the case filled by his wife, but to no avail, as the court dismissed petition with Justice Anthony Mrima asserting that, the State had valid grounds to prosecute him for injuring his spouse, Evelyn Chepkoech, at a period when she was expecting.

Julius Korir claims the case is in bad faith, meant to humiliate him, and is an infringement of his rights. He also argues that the prosecution uses the case to force him to settle a marriage property row with his wife. The Leadership Integrity Act, along with Chapter six of the Kenyan constitution, affirms that state officers must leave on suspension if an open criminal case against them ensues. As such, the PS risks losing his role. In Korir’s household, cases of assault have appeared in 2018. He also has a divorce suit against him and other charges in the children’s court.
