This was Booker’s first NBA playoff game of his career and made memorable over the reigning champions despite the injury of Phoenix’s veteran influence Chris Paul.

Backed by Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson, they managed to produce a physical encounter that left the Lakers struggle to hit their strides throughout with LeBron James finishing with 18 points.

The Lakers took the lead by five points in the first quarter before the Sun taking the lead in the much of the second half to maintain a double-digit cushion only to later lead by 16 points later in the fourth.

"It was a big win for us," Booker said, revealing that the early injury to Paul had galvanized the Suns.

Booker later added that they expect to brace for a Lakers backlash in game two in Phoenix on Tuesday.

"They're the defending champs. We know they're going to come out and be ready to go -- and I think we will be too," Booker said.
