Lucy Ngendo’s body was found half-naked with chest and neck stab wounds. Her murderers had draped a carpet over her body from the ankles to the waist.

According to police sources, early investigations showed that Ngendo and her killers had a struggle because there were several house objects lying around after they killed her.

Police investigating the incident which took place last week Wednesday think that the person who killed her knew her well or utilized a person close to her to entice her to her death.

Police believe that the deceased was slain by someone she knew well given how the murder was carried out.

DCI detective Simon Chege yesterday stated that it appears that Ngendo opened the door innocently for someone she knew very well and that person ended up killing her.

Preliminary police investigations show that Ngendo was most likely killed the same day she was discovered dead.

According to her phone data, the last person she contacted was a friend on Tuesday night, asking for a phone charger.

Her neighbors in the apartment building where she resided claimed to have just heard a scream but did not pursue the matter further.

“I heard a single scream from my house on the first floor and when I opened the door to find out what was happening, the scream had died. I ignored it and thought it came from the neighboring roadside,’’ one neighbor said.

Her room was located on the ground floor, close to the stairwell leading to the first floor of the two-story building.

The mysterious event took place during the day and the absence of CCTV cameras in the apartment makes investigations into the matter difficult.

Ngendo was balancing work and school life and had just secured a part-time job with Glovo. She was studying environmental science, was scheduled to graduate at the end of the year and would have turned 23 on October 19.

Her mother, who lives in the United Kingdom described her as kind-hearted. She claimed that since the last time she spoke with her on September 6, her daughter had not voiced any worries about her future.

Her body was taken to Kenyatta University Hospital mortuary.
