Three detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Homicide Department went to the United States for a week-long advanced training in homicide investigation techniques.

The three officers; Fredrick Odemba, Vincent Langat, and Patrick Wachira, are those chosen from the top professionals of the nation's death investigators to undergo the training.

According to the DCI, the training program was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, under the sponsorship of the International Homicide Investigators Association (IHIA).

The DCI study claims that the international program for specialized detectives aims to give its officers the expertise they need to deal with the country's increasing death crimes.

A select group of experts from various professions involved in death investigations from around the world have gathered for the IHIA training.

“The training has brought together an elite group of professionals, from around the world, representing all death investigation disciplines,” read the statement by the DCI on Sunday.

 “IHIA’s membership includes highly respected death and homicide investigators, criminal behaviourists, forensic scientists, crime scene technicians, crime and intelligence analysts, and others, many of whom are considered among the foremost experts in their respective fields and disciplines.”

DCI emphasized the significance of including its staff in the initiative, claiming that doing so would aid in the resolution of numerous connected cases across the nation.

“The experience acquired by the detectives in the training, will undoubtedly go a long way in assisting the Directorate solve homicide cases expeditiously and deliver justice to victims of crime,” stated DCI.
