Three Family Members Die In Accident Along Kisii-Sotik Highway

On Thursday night, a car accident along the Kisii-Sotik highway claimed the lives of three family members, including a two-month-old baby.

The accident involved a head-on collision between a saloon automobile and a school bus and took place less than two kilometers from Keroka town in Nyamira County's Kegogi district.

The driver of the saloon car which had five passengers in it is said to have lost control and hit the St Andrews Kaggwa Secondary school bus.

The man passed away at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, but his wife and daughter were pronounced dead upon arrival at Keroka Sub County Hospital.

"The car had five passengers who were all rushed to Keroka Sub County Hospital where the mother and the child were pronounced dead."

The family was on their way back to their Kisii home after sending off their firstborn child for admission at Kenya Medical Training College, Kapkatet Campus.

The accident was confirmed by Keroka traffic Commander Osman Hassan, who stated that the car was being driven from Sotik towards Kisii town.

"We suspect the driver of the saloon car was driving on high speed. This is a call to all drivers to always remain extra careful while driving on our roads," he said.

Osman further said that the remaining passengers were receiving care at various hospitals.
