Tourism CS, Najib Balala Mourns the Death of His Brother, Sheikh Balala
Najib Balala, the cabinet secretary for tourism and wildlife, is in grief following the passing of his elder brother, Sheikh Salim Mohamed Abdallah Balala, who passed away on September 1st.
Balala shared the announcement through his social media on Thursday morning.
It is with great sadness to announce the death of my eldest brother, Sheikh Salim Mohamed Abdallah Balala.

The late Sheikh Salim is father to Salaah Balala, Abdallah Balala, Taufiq Balala, Mohammed Balala and 3 daughters.
The late Sheikh served in the administration of late President Jomo Kenyatta from 1966 to 1974 as a nominated Member of Parliament and an assistant minister in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.

The tourism CS revealed that the funeral prayers of his late brother would be held at Shibu Mosque - Mwembe Tayari Mombasa at 10 am on September 1, 2022, and the burial will be at Kikowani Muslim cemetery thereafter.

Balala's brother was also lamented by President Uhuru Kenyatta, who praised him for being a wonderful leader with a clear vision for the nation's progress. According to President Uhuru, the nation had lost a wise and forward-thinking leader who had been instrumental in setting the groundwork for the socioeconomic development of the country when he passed away.
