Transfer News: Wijnaldum for Barcelona.

Wijnaldum, 30, will be signed by LaLiga giants on a free agent. The club and the player are still going on with talks geared to reaching to an agreement where the midfielder will arrive at the Camp Nou with a reduced salary.

The Dutch national joined Liverpool in July 2016 from Newcastle United having stayed there for a year. He made 237 appearances for The Reds where he helped them win Champions League (2018/19), Premier League (2019/20), UEFA Super Cup (2019) and FIFA Club World Cup (2019).

Wijnaldum will leave Liverpool having failed to sign a new contract with them. He will reunite with his former boss Ronald Koeman whom they worked together in Netherlands national team for two years.

Barcelona had last summer revealed their interest with the Dutch midfielder.

Gini will find a hard time in finding his position in the squad since Barca has an array of talents in the midfield positions, with the likes of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Riqui Puig and Ilaix Moribo who have found games had to come by Koeman.

Wijnaldum had earlier on Sunday revealed his departure from Liverpool. He was given a guard of honour before the last game of the season against Crystal Palace where they won to finish in position three on the log.
