However, the decision criticized the permanent nature of the ban as beyond the scope of Facebook's normal penalties.

The Oversight Board has ordered Facebook to review the decision and "justify a proportionate response" that is applied to everyone even the ordinary users.

Trump was banned from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube in January following the Capitol Hill riots.

Facebook’s Oversight Board said the initial decision to permanently suspend the former President was "indeterminate and standard less", and that the correct response should be "consistent with the rules that are applied to other users of its platform".

The Board’s ruling means that the former President's suspension remains in place for now.

In the meantime, the former US President launched a new website on Tuesday to update supporters with his thoughts.

The former US President was also banned from YouTube and permanently on Twitter.
