Two men are receiving treatment in separate hospitals after sustaining serious knife injuries following a fight over a woman at a bar in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The two are reported to have engaged in a fistfight over a row involving a woman that works at a local bar Monday night.

Both men claim to have been in a romantic relationship with the woman.

Eyewitnesses say the two aged between 20 and 30 years started fighting after one of them found the other having a conversation with the barwoman at Connection bar in Kaptarakwa ward, Kitany village.

One of them had a knife and stabbed the other on the chest three times – who would later be taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret town for emergency treatment.

The other man who also had knife injuries is hospitalized at the Kaptarakwa health facility in the area- also receiving treatment.

“These two looked like they were drunk and started fighting over a woman who was serving them at the bar. They disagreed and a fight ensued where one was stabbed. The man who was stabbed looked like he had fainted and was taken to hospital,” said a woman who witnessed the incident.

“Fights over women is a common thing here, especially with people in a bar,” she added.

Police officers have now launched a probe into the incident that has left locals in shock.
