Zambia`s report reveals that the current president-elect was a former candidate who ran for president 5 times & lost all 5 times under the United Party for National Development since it was formed in 1998.
He showed his resiliency and resistance of not giving up.
President Hakainde Hichilema was on early Monday 16th August declared as Zambia's president-elect after emerging as the victor defeating his incumbent Edgar Lungu in the August 12 poll.
However, Mr. Lungu called the vote no “free and fair” and his Patriotic Front party was consulting on the next course of action.
He did not concede defeat despite his assurance to African Union observer delegation leader Bai Koroma who met him at State House in the capital Lusaka. Other opposition candidates had also written a letter to him, urging him to concede defeat.
