University of Nairobi (UON) Doubles the Tuition Fee

The University of Nairobi, UON, has more than doubled fees for postgraduate courses and parallel degrees to ease the liquidity crises with review affecting the postgraduate courses and parallel degrees.

Following the reduced number of students joining the University, students from the University of Nairobi will now have to pay double the normal tuition fee to correct the cash deficit.

Affected courses include Communication and MBA for which students will have to pay more than Ksh 600,000 for a two-year program an increase of 118 percent from the initial  Ksh 275,000.

Students for the other degree programs will also pay 70 percent more of their initial fees.

The new fee will be applied to new students enrolling to join the university from August 2021.

UoN administration is hoping to use the review to turn around their fortunes which have been dwindling for the past few years.

In the pursuit of Medicine at the University, a student will be expected to have amassed Ksh 3.8 million for the five-year course.

law students, on the other hand, will have to pay Ksh 1,020,000 from Ksh 715,500. Engineering will charge an average of Ksh 2.1 million from about the initial figure of Ksh 1 million.
