UPDATE: LSK Urges IG to Hasten with the Investigations on Lawyer Gicheru`s Death
The Inspector General of Police has been urged by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) to ensure prompt and thorough investigations into the unexpected death of attorney Paul Gicheru that happened on Monday 26th September.
The investigations will help to clarify the precise reason for Gicheru's death, LSK stated in a statement issued hours after the lawyer's passing.
“We have been informed that the police visited the home and urge the Inspector General of the National Police Service to ensure that speedy and thorough investigations are conducted into the cause of his death,” LSK said.
Gicheru was a suspect at the International Criminal Court (ICC), and other witnesses in ICC cases involving Kenyan politicians have either vanished or passed away, the society continued, so there are questions about why he died so suddenly.

Gicheru's kid, who was present in the home with him when his father's death was discovered, was also mentioned by LSK as being in severe condition and having been sent to the hospital.
“We have also learnt that the son of the late Gicheru who was in the same house with his father at time of his death, was admitted to hospital in critical condition and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.”
Gicheru was accused of influencing witnesses before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in a case where President William Ruto was charged with orchestrating the violent post-election clashes that shook the nation in 2007.
When he passed away, Gicheru had refuted all of the accusations made against him and was waiting for the court's decision.
