US Woman Who Used Glue On Hair Receives Help

A United States woman who styled her hair with super-strong glue, leaving it stuck in the same position for one month, has raised more than Ksh16.5million for possible surgery.

Tessica Brown, who lives in Louisiana, posted a video on TikTok last week explaining that she used "Gorilla Glue" industrial-strength spray adhesive after she ran out of her regular hair products.

"Bad bad bad idea," declared Brown, almost breaking down to tears.

"My hair has been like this for about a month now. It's not my choice," she added.

Brown noted that she had tried a series of lotions and products, including shampoo and coconut oil, to reverse the effects of the glue, but to no avail.

Her story soon took the internet by storm, prompting users to offer a myriad of solutions for her sticky scenario.

American artist Beyonce's hair stylist Neal Farinah even weighed in on her scenario.

Gorilla Glue contains acetone and propane and is 100 percent waterproof. It is specifically used to mount wood and laminates.

It can result in skin irritation in any event that it comes in contact with the skin.

Brown posted on Saturday, February 6 of her visit to a Louisiana hospital where she hoped she would get help, but to no avail.

"This is really about to be a long process," she captioned on Instagram.

Gorilla Glue company issued an apology to her following the unfortunate incident.

"This is a unique situation because this product is not indicated for use in or on hair as it is considered permanent," stated the company in a statement.

Brown began a GoFundMe campaign to cover the medical expenses for her treatment and managed to raise more than Ksh16.5million ($15,000) by Tuesday, February 9.

Chance the Rapper is among the celebrities said to have contributed to help Brown.

According to TMZ, she was able to cut off her ponytail but the hair on her scalp is still hadened. Los Angeles plastic surgeon Michael Obeng confirmed that he had offered to help Brown during her surgery.
