VIDEO: DP Ruto's Running Mate Airlifted After Chaos Erupt in Meru County

Rigathi Gachagua, Deputy William Ruto's running mate, was forced to cut his speech short during a rally in Meru county after a fight broke out.

According to reports, during the event, a group of rowdy youths are said to have caused mayhem by throwing stones at Gachagua and other leaders allied with Deputy President William Ruto.

Gachagua had previously presided over peaceful rallies, but his stopover in Mutuati was marred by violence, with police forced to lob teargas canisters into the charged crowd.

During the fracas, an unknown number of people who were present were injured.

Meru Senator Mithika Linturi blamed their opponents for the clashes, while Gachagua was flown away to safety.

Some residents fled for safety, temporarily disrupting operations at the nearby Mutuati Sub County Hospital.

Gachagua had previously addressed several centers during his tour, including Kimongoro Market in the same county.
