VIDEO: Newly Sworn in Governor Kananu Driven to City Hall Officially

Newly Sworn-in Ann Kananu Mwenda as the Nairobi County`s Governor has been officially driven in a vintage limousine to Cityhall.

Kananu has been holding the office of the Nairobi governor in an acting governor as ex-city boss Mike Sonko moved to court to stop her swearing-in into office.

This comes hours after she was sworn in on Tuesday 16th as the third Nairobi`s governor barely a year after former Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko was ousted out by the Nairobi Member of Parliament {MCAs}.On 8th November Sonko suffered a big blow as the Supreme Court on Monday struck out an appeal case, he filed seeking to stop Anne Kananu from being sworn in as Nairobi County Governor.

The ruling by the apex court, therefore, meant that Kananu was to be sworn in as the County boss.

“The court, we conclude lacks jurisdiction to entertain the application,” reads part of the ruling.

Supreme Court judges also noted that with the absence of a judgment of the court of appeal the application by Sonko was premature and didn't meet the threshold of the Constitution.

Sonko wanted the Supreme Court to prohibit the swearing-in of Kananu as Nairobi Governor pending a hearing and determination of his appeal.
