The video, which was shot on Kenyatta Avenue, went viral on Wednesday, drawing the wrath of internet users who lambasted the police.

The National Police Service (NPS) announced on Wednesday, March 30, that it was taking disciplinary action against the officer involved in the incident on Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi.

NPS further stated that the officer had been positively recognized.

"The National Police Service has taken note of a social media trending incident in which a police officer on traffic duty was caught forcing himself into a private vehicle."

"The officer in question has been positively identified, and disciplinary action is being taken against him. We stress that individual police officers must carry out their responsibilities professionally, methodically, and with a high level of discipline," read the NPS statement.

What looked to be an altercation between the driver and the traffic cop devolved into an unpleasant situation when the cop stepped back, removed his cap, and slammed his left foot through the co-window, the driver gaining admission to the vehicle with little concern for the passenger occupying the passenger seat.

"After a brief altercation, the beleaguered driver was ejected, and the cop commandeered the vehicle, leaving the remaining occupant completely perplexed," the DCI stated.

Other cops were spotted going about their business unconcerned with the incident surrounding their uniformed colleague.
