This comes at a time an Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing attack that left six people lifeless and several injured.

An Islamic group IS stated on its Telegram account that three suicide bombers took part, with one attack targeting the central police station and another aimed at parliament.

Uganda`s president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni stated on Tuesday that the terrorists exposed themselves at a time when Uganda's security apparatus has strengthened since his speech to Parliament in 2018.

“They have exposed themselves when we are more ready for urban terrorism. They will perish.  Rural terrorism was defeated in 2007 in the Semliki National Park.  I am referring to the dead terrorists as manipulated victims of confusion. The real pigs are people like Nsubuga, the so-called Sheikh that confused young people at Lweza.  If blowing oneself up will send one to Jaanaa, let him blow himself up as an example instead of manipulating young children,” Mr. Museveni said in a Tuesday evening statement before adding “The terrorists invited us and we are coming for them.” He stated.

However, Kenya a neighboring country has tightened Security across its borders in the wake of insecurity in Uganda.

Speaking on Tuesday 16th the National police spokesman Bruno Shioso stated that they had heightened security, putting in place multiple operations to mitigate any threat.

“We are alert at the border in case those behind the incident try to flee here. Locally, we are also on alert in case of any planned incident.” He said.
