Popular and controversial Kenyan musician Willy Paul has opened up about how people used to laugh at him about his color.

Willy Paul who is preparing to drop an album further says some still laugh at him even today.

In a post on his official Instagram account, the singer said despite people looking down upon him, and calling him charcoal, in reference to his skin color, he is still way too comfortable.

“People use to laugh at my colour, some still do. They use to call me charcoal ... yaani walidai niko mweusi sana and not what they expected. Well it's my life and colour right? And I'm way too comfortable na rangi yangu.” Willy Paul noted.

On whether he is planning to bleach so as to stop people from calling him all sorts of names, Willy Paul said he has no such plans.

“Yes black and proud n that's why this nigga is never bleaching!!! Na bado nawakemba
Sending love ur way...,” he added in the post.

The singer recently celebrated his 28th birthday and he is set to host a birthday party at his place this weekend.

Willy Paul is also anticipated to soon announce the title of his upcoming album and release date.

Willy Paul whose official name is Wilson Abubakar Radido started off as a gospel musician, gaining popularity with the hit single ‘Sitolia’ featuring Gloria Muliro.

He was named male artist of the year at the 2013 Groove Awards alongside Gloria Muliro, who took the female artist of the year award.

Willy Paul however later switched to secular – after constant accusations of secularism in his gospel songs from various quarters.
