Charles Leclerc had his 8th pole position and Ferrari's first since Mexico 2019 in Monaco Grand Prix ahead of championship leader Lewis Hamilton who will start 7th.

It was a tight race that saw Leclerc qualify despite crushing at the finish line to make it his eight pole position which had to wait for almost four years to be achieved.

"It's a shame to finish in the wall, it doesn't feel the same! But at the same time I'm incredibly happy about my lap,” Charles said after the race.

He later dismissed the suggestions that his crush on the line was purposeful to ensure total control over the rivals.

“If I was doing it on purpose, I would have done it a less bit hard!” he stated.

On the other hand, Sebastian Vette applauded Charles ahead of the awaited race and pleased seeing Ferrari making great steps.

"It's good to see Ferrari made a step. I'm happy for them to be on pole. I had a bad season but they also had a bad season last year so..." said Vette.
