Why Women in Leadership Positions are More Liable to Divorce

Research reveals that cases of women holding higher management and leadership positions, both in the public and private sector, divorcing their spouses have increased. According to the BBC women, who are promoted into Chief Executive Officers have higher chances of separating from their partners.

Women empowerment through training and career development plays an integral role in social and ecological development. On the other hand, many of us long for a successful and passionate relationship.

However, research reveals that cases of women holding higher management and leadership positions, both in the public and private sector, divorcing their spouses have increased. According to the BBC, women, who are promoted into Chief Executive Officers have higher chances of separating from their partners.

The main problem is the inability to balance workplace and home duties, especially when children are involved.  In countries like Sweden, people are joking that the better a lady performs at work, the higher the probability of being divorced.

The challenge concerns the conflict of interest regarding the senior position duties and household tasks. For example, a lady CEO will have difficulties attending a school parents meeting for her children. Others fail to attend birthday celebrations and other important family events.

Also, some women want to treat their spouses authoritatively the same way they behave at work. The incidents cause friction between lovers, leading to separation.
