According to Suna East Sub-county Police Commander Hesau Ochorokodi, the body of the woman was found along the road by the members of the public Friday morning.

The police chief stated that they were unable to instantly identify the deceased since her assailants appeared to have made off with her head.

The body was sent to the mortuary at Migori Level Hospital pending an autopsy and a police inquiry.
Mr. Ochorokodi stated that they are working on modalities to increase patrols within Awendo Sub County in order to cope with the mounting cases of insecurity and thus calls for public cooperation.

The incident occurs amid growing concerns about insecurity in the Awendo sub-county. Two people were killed in Awendo town a week ago, and a teacher's wrist was hacked off by unknown assailants.

Residents in the Awendo sub-county urge security authorities to set up procedures to combat the escalating cases of insecurity.

This fatal incident comes barely two weeks after another woman was found dumped with her body parts chopped in Kiambu County.

Her body parts were placed in a nylon sack and put in a black suitcase with the hands tied at the back and both legs as well tied with manila ropes in Kiambu County, Juja SubCounty on Monday 17th January.

The incident was reported on Monday evening at around 1940 hours that the body had been dumped near the service lane along the perimeter wall of the Recce company camp at Toll area M/R BJ755775 about 4 km south of the station.

According to police reports, it indicated that the corpse of the woman had also been tied around the neck with a nylon rope.

It's possible that the woman was murdered by a female woman who was enraged by her husband's involvement with her.

"The body had a visible deep cut on the left breast. She had ink writings on the chest, both palms, and both thighs which read “Bwana ya mtu ni sumu.”," the police report read.
