A housekeeper in Migori County reportedly committed suicide by ingesting a poisonous substance and died while undergoing treatment.

The 19-year-old lady is believed to have died at a rented home in the Ikerege neighborhood of Kuria West after ingesting a pesticide, according to Kuria police investigations.

According to Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, the area county police commander, the dead, a housekeeper, was discovered by her employer lying unconscious on the floor.

She was taken to a nearby hospital but died while undergoing medical attention at the hospital.

“The young woman was rushed to a nearby hospital by her employer, but unfortunately she died at the hospital while undergoing treatment,” said Kimaiyo.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations team inspected the area and found a container of a known insecticide that they believe the deceased may have consumed.

The motive behind the incident has not yet been established.

The deceased's body has been transferred to the Kuria West sub-county morgue pending autopsy while the police continue their investigations.
