The raucous crowd stormed the Matisi Police Station in protest of recent mob justice and lynchings in the area involving suspected criminals.

According to Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Jecinta Wesonga, the teenagers assembled at Corner Matisi at 5 p.m. before storming the police station.

The youngsters rushed the Matisi Police Station with machetes, bows, and other primitive weapons to protest recent episodes of mob justice.

The ringleader Eliud said that they will not sit by and watch their friends and family members be hanged simply for stealing anything from someone.

He also claimed that some of them are supported by their families, and Instead of burning them, they should be arrested.

The demonstrators accused the cops Instead of raiding chang'aa dens and arresting people who are having a wonderful time instead of providing security.

They further claimed that they only come to take someone's body after they have been lynched.

The brawl erupted after a man was lynched in Kongoni after an enraged mob suspected him of being a livestock thief.

In Trans Nzoia, a crowd attacked another man on suspicion of stealing hens.

Police commander Jecinta said that the same people outside the police station are groups of goons and thugs from Matisi and Namanjalala on a revenge mission who seek to exploit the situation to threaten members of the public.

She praised her officers' quick actions in calming the situation inside the police station but advised the people against taking the law into their own hands and retaliating for perceived wrongs.

In the crime areas of Tuwani, Matisi, and Namanjalala, she pledged additional police patrols.
