Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday 13th, handed over his executive authority to his Deputy President Dr. C.D.G.N Constantino Chiwenga as he begins his Annual Leave.

Dr. Misheck Sibanda, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, stated that Mnangagwa will spend his three-week vacation in the nation in a statement.
He won't return until the end of the month.

The statement also added that during his vacation, Vice President Dr. C.D.G.N Constantino Chiwenga will take over the office duties.

The president will be on leave from January 13 to February 5, 2022, according to the statement.

However, President Mnangagwa`s leave comes barely days after he announced on January 6th that he has slated March 26 as the date for long-awaited by-elections to fill vacant seats in the National Assembly and various local authorities across the country.

“During this period, Hon. Vice President, Gen (Retd) Dr. C.G.D.N. Chiwenga, will be acting President,” the statement read.
