In popular parlance, the term "single" refers to someone who is not in any type of romantic relationship, including long-term dating, engagement, or marriage, or someone who is "single by choice." Singles can use dating and other activities to find a long-term partner or spouse.

Newly Single

These sets of people are people who have recently left a relationship and they are not about to get into a new relationship. They have probably gone through heartbreak and they are recovering from it. 

In most cases, these types of people were in a long-term relationships and they have recently broken up.

Occupied single

These sets of people are super single and getting into a relationship is not their priority as they are occupied with their careers and other activities that keep them occupied.

Disgruntled Single

These types of people have been in several relationships and they have now given up on getting into another. This is a result of all the experiences that they have encountered in previous relationships.

Single by choice

These types of individuals do not want to get involved in any type of relationship with anyone and they are very much comfortable being alone. They enjoy their own company and are not in a hurry to get into a relationship with anyone.

One-off Single

They are constantly with the new and exciting person they have just met. These relationships are superficial, and when the thrill wears off, so do they. They also avoid any type of commitment with anyone as they get to meet new and different people most time.
