In a statement by the party, ODM has announced plans to conduct the party primaries ahead of the august polls.

The party primaries in the Westland, Langat’a and Kibra constituencies comes after the party has been issuing tickets to candidates for different positions.

The party primaries come at a time when the ODM party leader Raila Odnga has told off aspirants who lost in the ODM primaries to support those that had won the primaries rather than running as independent candidates.

If candidates knew they planned to run as independents, Raila argued they should not have applied to run on the party ticket.

You find someone applying to vie for a seat on a certain political party. When they are subjected to nominations and lose, they go independent. Why didn’t they declare their interests in vying as independents before applying to vie on a party ticket?” he posed

Odinga spoke on Wednesday April 21, while issuing nomination certificates at the Bomas of Kenya, the formed premium told the losers to learn to be loyal members despite any outcomes.

When you choose to join a political party, remain steadfast in that party and believe in its ideology and principles,” he stated

At the same time, he asked the nominees to campaign peacefully and teach love and togetherness throughout the country, stating that he wants to see Kenya unified.

You are now our ambassadors. So, go out there and campaign vigorously for the party and deliver, but remember to talk about the unity of Kenyans and, in particular, the people you want to represent at various levels,” Raila said.
