A 35-year old man has been charged with conning and issuing fake certificates to medical laboratory technicians across the country.

The man identified as Nick Otieno has been charged at the Milimani Law courts in Nairobi, on grounds that he committed an offense pretending to be an officer of the Kenya Medical Laboratory and Technicians and Technologists board (KMLTTB).

You are charged that on diverse dates between 1st January 2016 and 28th February 2022 within the Republic of Kenya jointly with others not before the court with intent to defraud, falsely represented yourself as an officer of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) a fact you knew to be false,” read part of the statement.

Also, nick is alccused using tricks to induce Medical laboratory Technician across the country to send him money lying to them that he was in a position to register them with the Kenya medical laboratory and Technologists Board.

Nick is also a former employee of the KMLTTB and is also accused of ksh.500,000 from laboratory technicians across the country.

In a police report, Nick is also claimed to continue receiving cash from the Laboratory technicians despite him being terminated by KMLTTB in 2015.

 “Despite being terminated, he continued to obtain money from the Laboratory technicians on the pretense that he was still an employee of the board and registered them without sitting for the board exam which is mandatory before being allowed to practice,” read part of the police report.

Nick pleaded not guilty and was released on a 100,000 cash bail by chief magistrate Wendy Micheni.
