Agriculture CS States His Position on the GMO Maize Importation
The issue of GMO maize importation into the country has enraged various leaders, including President William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga. Mithika Linturi, the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, has also been included, as many Kenyans were expecting to hear from him.

In a statement today, Agriculture CS has stated that he is yet to give a comprehensive report concerning the matter. He also stated that he is the one who knows the amount of food that Kenya requires and he needs more time to come up with a solid stand.
"Hold your horses because I want to give you a position that I am ready to defend. I need to have statistics before I can answer that. I will give a more comprehensive report on the national food status at a later date when I have all the data. Relax, you will have food," Linturi stated.
He also went ahead to distance himself from the remarks made by the Trade Cs Moses Kuria where he made a crucial statement that angered many Kenyans and several politicians across the country.
"So I will not answer to what is being reported in the social media," he said.
Linturi's statement comes shortly after the High Court of Kenya temporarily ordered that the importation and distribution of GMO maize be stopped.

Politicians have also been to exchange words online concerning the matter. Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga had also recently joined other politicians to oppose the planned importation of the maize.
