Mini Classic Rally Commences in Nairobi

The East African Safari Classic Rally organized a mini classic rally that flagged early Thursday 4th November at the Waterfront Mall in the country’s capital. The competition features familiar personalities and big names as teams in the thirty-seven-car competition. The course Clerk is Raju Chagger while the rally stewards are Nazir Yakub and Gillian Dykes. Former safari rally winners also got attracted to the event including Aslam Khan and sibling Arshad Khan utilizing a Porsche 911, a Datsun 160J bearing Maxine Wahome, Shakeel Khan a nephew to Aslam Khan in a Ford Escort, and in a Land Rover, Geoff Mayers. Maxine Wahome was the only female champion in the event.

The total distance to be covered under the competition is estimated to be more than 1000Kms driving along the classic safari rally routes within and around the country. Competitors will address three stages a day with a total of twelve competitive stages, the roads are gravel roads which available to the general public. Amboseli National Park will feature as the hub of the competition as is also where the competition will end on Saturday. The competition is a good measure for the country’s marketing and tourism especially after the financial limitations the Corona Virus caused.
