Six Suspects Apprehended During a Raid Along Mathare River
According to the National Police Service, six suspects were arrested during a drug raid along the Mathare River and are expected to appear in court on Thursday.
According to the National Police Service, the raids were carried out Wednesday evening along the Mathare River by officers drawn from Starehe Sub-County under the command of Starehe Sub-County Police Commander William Sirengo and assisted by OCS Mathare Police Station.
According to police, the areas had become a hub of drug peddling, drug abuse, and illegal gambling, and the raid was intended to dismantle these dens, which had become a nuisance in the neighborhoods.

Six suspects were apprehended at the end of the operation, while others escaped arrest.
The extent of the notoriety in the dens was evident as drugs were recovered, including one kilogram of heroin, five kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, and illicit brew.
The dens also contained needles, alcohol pads, a dagger, and NSP Kits, as well as a gambling machine.

According to the police, such vices erode society, discouraging members of the public, particularly young people, from engaging in criminal activities.
