10 year old Girl Who Went Missing On Sunday Found Strangled

Justa, a Class Four student at Mwerongai Primary School, appeared to have been raped and strangled before being abandoned near Maili Tatu in the Bwathunaro gully.

According to witnesses, the little girl was bleeding from her private parts and was half-naked, with her hands tied behind her back and her mouth gagged with a cloth.

Fridah Gacheri, the girl's distressed mother, said the kid was sent to buy sugar from a local shop on Sunday afternoon but did not return home.

The family launched a search on Sunday evening but gave up in the hopes that Justa had gone to see a relative.

 “We were optimistic that she would return and thought she had lost the money and was afraid of coming back home. The hope was shattered after someone told us that the body of a young girl had been spotted and it fitted her description. She was wearing her school pullover, white blouse and white shoes,” she recounted amid tears.

Gacheri described how they were devastated to learn that the body had been discovered by members of the public, putting an end to hopes of finding her alive.

The girl's family are saddened by the incident and demands that her killers be apprehended.

Residents have asked the police to beef up security in the neighbourhood, citing a rise in the number of bars and idle men in the area as causes of instability.

The body was taken to the mortuary of the Nyambene sub-county hospital.
