Ferdinand Omanyala beats American star to clinch silver and break African record in 100m

Ferdinand Omanyala is officially Africa's fastest man as he finished 2nd in the 100m finals of the ABSA Kip Keino classics that took place at the Kasarani stadium today evening.

Omanyala who finished in second place to American Travyon Brommel had quite an uphill task as he faced off with one of Sprint Gurus, 2004 Olympic Champion, an ageless Justin Gatlin and fellow American Travyon Brommel.

The 28 year-old who's currently in great form has broke the Kenyan record 5 times in the build up to this race on Kenyan soil.

Omanyala burst off the blocks with incredible pace and 50m in he was already front of the playing field.

He hustled and tussled the final metres but ran out of track and Travyon Brommel edged Kenyas Superman by a mere microsecond the final time being 9.76 - 9.77

The performance was witnessed by thousands among them President Uhurru Kenyatta and Sports CS Amina Mohammed who graced the occasion.
