Harambee Stars midfielder Francis Kahata has officially left Simba SC of Tanzania after his two-year contract ended.

Kahata joined the Tanzanian Mainland League champions in the year 2019 from Gor Mahia where he helped them to win the league title, Community shield and the Tanzanian Cup.

The 29-year old has enjoyed little play time in the league. However, he remained faithful to the team and went all the way in the CAF Champions League from group stages to the quarter final where they were eliminated by South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs.

Kahata revealed why he left and said that it was based on mutual agreement between him and the club.

“We have been negotiating with the Simba management and have reached an agreement to part ways at the expiry of my contract,”said Kahata.

He also said that since his team was eliminated from the Champions League, his assignment came to an end as it was the main job that was signed for him. The midfielder added that his remaining salary for the contract will be paid by the club.

The Kenyan national is now eyeing the new challenge for the next season whereby he is ready to go to the club which will offer him a chance.

“There are many offers that have come my way and I am free to choose where I will be playing. However, I will let my agent handle everything and when time is ripe, I will let my fans and supporters know where I will be playing.”added Kahata.

Kahata will be returning to Kenya this weekend after the agreement between him and coach Didier Gomez.

The talented creative midfielder started his senior football career in 2008 at Thika United where he stayed there upto 2015. During his seven years in Thika, he went on loan spell to University of Pretoria football club and KF Tirana of Albania.

In July 2015, he returned to Kenya an joined Gor Mahia. Kahata played for K’Ogalo until July 2019, where he was signed to Tanzania giants Simba SC.
