JOBS: Film Technician at United States International University - USIU Africa

Job Summary

The Film technician will report to the Department Chair, Cinematic Arts. S/he will be expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Assist students with technical film projects.
  2. Issue and manage equipment and facilities for film programs.
  3. Manage film labs, sound booths, and stores.
  4. Ensure that film production equipment and facilities are in good order.
  5. Manage acquisition, updating, and renewal of film-making software.
  6. Assist film production faculty during class sessions and special film projects.
  7. Play an active role in film classification, festival submission, and copyrighting processes.

Minimum Educational Qualifications, Professional Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Film Production from a recognized university. Other related areas such as Digital Arts, Broadcast Journalism, Interactive Media Design, Game Design and Development, Creative Arts, or related discipline will be considered if the applicant has had relevant work experience in the film industry.
  2. At least two years experience working in a university or film industry, with tangible film outputs
  3. Excellent Skills in working with a variety of filmmaking software e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut, Final Draft, etc.
  4. Good skills in video and audio production and editing
  5. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and should be able to work under minimal supervision
  6. Must have excellent organizational skills
  7. Knowledge of Animation and Game Design will be an added advantage
