Kamba leaders are now requesting the Wiper party leader to return to Azimio la Umoja Coalition. The leaders, led by Governors Charity Ngilu of Kitui, Kivutha Kibwana of Makueni, and Machakos Gubernatorial aspirant Nzioka Waita, spoke in Machakos town, stating that Kalonzo should bite the bullet and sacrifice for the sake of the community.

“It is a pity for the Kamba community to be out of the next Government just because of an individual’s interest,” Ngilu stated.

Kalonzo surprised everyone when he declared his presidential candidacy in what appeared to be a protest after failing to secure the Azimio running mate position.

He also announced his running mate as Lawyer Andrew Sunkuli which the announcement came minutes later when Azimio la Umoja Presidential aspirant, Raila Odinga had announced his running mate as Martha Karua.

Ngilu stated that the community is now at a crossroads and has become a laughingstock as a result of the Wiper leader's decision to reject the Chief Minister's offer from an 'incoming' government.

She also claimed that Martha Karua had a reformist record and that being agitated because she took over the running mate slot was insufficient to justify sacrificing the Kamba community in the next government by Kalonzo's distance from Azimio.

Kivutha stated that it was not right for Kalonzo to ditch Azimio la Umoja Coalition to form his own decision without considering the Kamba community at large.

” Deciding to go it alone is a clear indication Kalonzo has no good intention for the community but to want to plunge it in the everlasting poverty for being out of the next Government,” Kivutha stated.

He stated that the purpose of their meeting was to devise a strategy to lead a door-to-door campaign in Ukambani by all Azimio affiliate parties in support of Raila Odinga and Martha Karua forming the next government.
