Prepare For Rocky Road Ahead! John Munyes Alerts Kenyans

The Cabinet Secretary has notified Kenyans to prepare for difficulty as the fuel prices are not likely to be reduced soon as earlier expected.

Munyes, who was speaking before the Senate committee on Monday, October 4 said the fuel prices are influenced by exogenous factors that are beyond the ministry's control.

“The cargos will close on October 10 and, therefore, it is at that time we will know whether they are going up or down. So it is not rocket science. It is not something I can say I will do because it is a formula that determines the price,” the Cabinet Secretary noted.

Munyes also told Kenyans to be ready for the afflictions as the likelihood of the flue prices declining is very minimum.

Munyes blamed the National Treasury for declining to release the KSh 24 billion fuel subsidy.

“Out of the KSh 32 billion from the Petroleum Development Fund, we spent KSh 8.6 billion in the five months to stabilize fuel prices. We did not receive any money in September,” Munyes added.

The alert by the Cabinet Secretary comes after the announcement of an increase in fuel prices by the regulatory in September. The new rates saw petrol, diesel, and kerosene prices by KSh 7.58, KSh7.94, and KSh 12.97 per litre.
