Fresh details have now revealed that the 25-year-old man Noah Ogweno who was rescued on Sunday 9th in Rongo sub-county, Migori County, after being under the curved gold mine for three days had sneaked out from his squad s to go and work an extra mile.

The mine had collapsed in Kichuri village, North Kamagambo location.

The tragedy occurred on Thursday 6th night.

He was, however, recovered at 2 p.m. on Sunday after a successful joint rescue operation by the county government and the local National Government Constituency Development Office, which contributed rescue machines.

When the mine collapsed, he was thought to be alone within.

Rongo is a sub-county in the county of Rongo. The miner was rescued, according to Deputy County Commissioner Joseph Ng'eny, and was immediately transferred to Tabaka Mission Hospital in adjacent Kisii County for medical treatment.

“The rescue operations began on Friday afternoon when we received powerful machines from the government It continued until Sunday when we managed to break through the hard rocks in the mines and pulled out the miner alive,” Ng’eny said adding that Ogweno was trapped in the mine after its walls caved in, following a downpour.
