The African champions will see themselves book a spot in the World Cup that will be held in Qatar later this year.

An early goal by Senegal scored by Boulaye Dia stood to the final whistle and with 1-1 on aggregate and that resorted to penalties to decide the winner.   The two teams who met in the African Cup of Nations finals are long time rivals, with Egypt trailing in both competitions after extra time and losing to penalties.

Sadio Mane has been the man to watch who steered his team to win the playoffs after the two teams went to extra time.

Egypt's Main striker Mo Salah missed his opening penalty kick by hitting the crossbar, an act that gave the African Champions an advantage to secure all their penalties and won by three goals to 1 for Egypt.

Senegal coach Aliou commented on the spirit and dedication of his team, something they had done before.

“It was important to get off to a good start, something we had not done in Cairo," said Senegal coach Aliou Cisse.

Egypt laments yet again after losing the same team that they had lost to in the African Cup of Nations.
