Three Officers Arrested in Connection with Masten Wanjala`s Escape

Three police officers have been arrested on suspicion of assisting serial killer Masten Millimo Wanjala in eluding capture.

The trio officers are Police Inspector Philip Mbithi, Police Constables Boniface Mutuma, and Precious Mwende.

They are in Police custody in Jogoo road.

The three suspects, who were apprehended by colleagues from the Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations Office, are due to appear in court.

They will be prosecuted with assisting in the eluding of lawful custody and neglect of official duty, respectively, under sections 124 and 128 of the Penal Code.

Wanjala, who is suspected of killing more than ten youngsters, eluded police custody on Wednesday. He was being held at Nairobi's Jogoo Road Police Station. Wanjala went missing at 7 a.m. on Wednesday 13th, according to the duty officer. He was scheduled to appear in court the following morning to face 13 counts of murder.


Wanjala disappeared in unknown circumstances Tuesday night, according to Buruburu Sub-County Police Commander Francis Kamau, with sources indicating that he may have left during or after dinner because the station's power was off between 3 and 8 p.m.
