Issues Emerging From The Vote Recount In Mvita Constituency

45 ballot boxes from the 15 polling places were handed to the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi for the procedure set for Wednesday, October 31, to be conducted.

As of Thursday morning, just nine out of 45 ballot boxes had been opened, examined, and the votes tallied. The 36 remaining ballot boxes are still being examined today.

The nine boxes came from the Mvita Constituency in Mombasa County's Majengo and Mvita primary schools. The figures corresponded to those on Form 34A and declaration result forms kept by IEBC in the voting machines.

Failing to fill Form 34A, failing to seal returned ballots, lacking stamps, and lacking actual voter registration lists were among the issues noted from the nine ballot boxes.

Examining the ballot boxes further revealed that Stream 1 of the Majengo polling station in Mvita had no Form 34A, while Stream 2 contained a blank Form 34A that had not been stamped.

Additionally, there were two Forms 34A from Mvita Primary School's Stream 5 in the voting box. The presiding officer, the deputy presiding officer, and representatives from political parties all signed one while the other Form 34A was not signed.

Both Forms 34A indicated that Ruto got 99 votes, Raila had 122, Waihiga Mwaure received no votes, and George Wajackoyah received two.

In Stream 4, the governor's declaration result form was found in the presidential election materials.

IEBC representatives, agents of Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga, Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader William Ruto, and activists participated in the exercise.
