Former Chief Justice David Maraga has gone ahead to sue Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi for allegedly defaming him through his Twitter handle.

Maraga who retired on January 12th, 2021, accused the lawyer of using his Twitter account on the day of his retirement to post a scandalous tweet accusing him that he knew of a corrupt Supreme Court judge but he did nothing.

The retired Chief Justice Claims lawyer Ahmednasir’s tweet attracted 565 comments, 2.5K likes, and 381 Retweets from his followers.

“The said post was circulated to other unquantifiable Twitter users by virtue of being ‘retweeted’ or ‘liked’ onto other users’ Twitter timelines. The said post is still on his Twitter handle and is accessible to millions of Twitter subscribers throughout the world,” he says in suits papers.

Maraga claims he is an elder of Seventh Day Adventist Church, a position that calls for a leader with high moral character and unquestionable integrity.

He says lawyer Ahmednasir’s tweet defamed him raising questions about his integrity and moral character.
