It's A New Dawn for Tanzania's Opposition Leaders

It has taken more than five years for Tanzania’s opposition parties to overhear their long hushed voices after a political visit by President Samia Suluhu to opposition parties in April.

The visit was a discussion on finding better ways of conducting political activities for the oppositions without damaging the country.

Previously, the late President John Pombe Maguguli who passed away on 17th March 2021, banned opposition parties in 2015 from conducting political activities, and an arrest order issued to the defiant until the next general elections which were on October 2020.

The takeover by Dr. Magufuli's successor has seen the rise of the once paralyzed opposition leaders and was evident by the recent by-election in Muhambwe Constituency in Kigoma Region where despite CCM winning they termed it as free and fair.

Opposition parties conducted their political parties without the fear of their leaders being arrested and locked up which has motivated Chadema to have interest in the 2025 elections now that it’s believed he’s currently holding internal meetings countrywide.
