Massa Hamisi Salim Named Acting Director of DCI

Massa Hamisi will assume the role of the deputy director for 14 days as the police commission looks for someone to fill the position.

Eliud Kinuthia, the chairman of the commission, stated that a DCI is anticipated within the time frame following the resignation of George Kinoti.

Massa Hamisi was promoted to deputy DCI in May 2022 replacing Joseph Ashmalla who resigned from the service. Massa was the Senior Assistant Inspector General (SAIG) of the DCI.

Massa’s nomination was considered a reward for his efforts since he has been the Anti-Narcotics Unit’s (ANU)director for a considerable amount of time.

The police commission has the responsibility of recommending candidates to the President for the position of director of criminal investigations.

NPSC on Thursday, September 27 announced that they were looking for a new DCI and interested candidates must submit their application by midnight of October 6, which is next week on Thursday

The candidates must be qualified criminal investigators with a degree, 10 years of relevant experience, and demonstrable expertise.

“Applicants must be citizens of Kenya, hold a degree from a recognized university, 10 years experience in management and proven knowledge in criminal investigations and policing and meet requirements for chapter six of Constitution of Kenya 2010,” said NPSC chairman.
