The young mid-twenties man started his career almost 5 years ago with the little skills that he had but with time he has grown to be one of the best Kenyan makeup artists. His journey is just like that of any other dreamer who strived to achieve and made it in the makeup industry.

"I was broke, trying to keep it together also with my not-so-good products and skills. Izo brows, the harsh contour woi I had no training at all, mostly watching and learning and a little bit of guesswork," he stated.

"Very few people supported me around this time and most of who were my clients My clients were my strongest pillars especially after appreciating my work not only in monetary value but also from a genuine place," Dennis revealed.

Karuri started as a model and when he entered the makeup industry, he would get clients and receive any amount of money that they offered him. With time after he had polished his skills, he could now be able to afford a rate card which he uses for his clients depending on various things such as location and event.

Dennis Karuri has a YouTube channel where he has close to 100,000 subscribers and a total of 198,000 Instagram followers. His audience has since grown especially with the kind of art that he does to attract more clients to his business.

Apart from his business, Karuri has been seen to partner and work with several brands and this has really helped him to make it in the business.

Karuri wants to dispel the stigma that comes with being a male makeup artist. He believes that there are numerous talented male makeup artists who lack the confidence to begin.
