The two teachers who assaulted a class 8 student at Nyamninia Primary School in Siaya County after the student scored less than 400 on a test have not yet been charged despite being arrested last week.

The boy’s father asserts that despite being out on police bond, the two suspects did not show up in court on Friday.

According to reports, the case file was still at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions when the suspects were initially supposed to be prosecuted on July 25. (ODPP).

He claims the judges and police have not yet filed a lawsuit against the individuals who are allegedly getting away with abusing a minor.

A video of the boy crying while being physically beaten by teachers for failing to score 400 on a mock exam at the school emerged online.

The Ministry of Education launched inquiries into the incident when the video went viral and caused a public uproar, which resulted in the arrest of the offenders.

The two teachers involved were arrested last week but are yet to bring before a court to answer the charges filed against them.
