A top Governor from Western Kenyans now says Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga deserves to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta once his term comes to an end in 2022.

According to the second term county boss, the 2022 presidential race will be between Raila and Deputy President William Ruto - but the former Prime Minister is best placed to take Kenya to the next level.

In a post shared on his official Twitter handle, Busia Governor Sospeter Ojamong called on the two top Luhya leaders - Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula to shelve their presidential ambitions in favour of the ODM leader.

"The two Luhya leaders Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula, who are One Kenya Alliance (OKA) luminaries, should allow former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga use his last bullet to catapult him to State House in 2022," Ojamong said in part of his lengthy post on Sunday.

"Raila deserves a chance to be Kenya's fifth president," he added.
The county boss said Raila has championed for devolution hence he merits to take over from Uhuru.
"The whole country and the world are rooting for Raila as the best bet to take Kenya to the next level, thus the need by all Kenyans to support his bid," said the Governor who is also a member of ODM.

Mudavadi who heads the Amani National Congress (ANC) has been seen as a possible presidential candidate for the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) but Ojamong says him, together with Ford Kenya's Wetangula stand no chance.

"I am  categorical that Western region has a sure bet of one of its son or daughter taking over from Raila, thus the need to support the former PM," he noted.

For Ojamong, Raila's candidature will change the political wave in the country in the next few months.
