A section of church leaders, pastors, and preachers from Trans Nzoia County has pleaded with the Government to soothe the Covid-19 Restrictions and open the worship centers.

Trans Nzoia East Interfaith Committee has condemned the government for suspending the congregational fellowships in the Western region.

The committee Chairperson, Bishop Martin Mafumbo defended that the religious committee in Kenya was upholding the Covid-19 control measures.

“We have complied with all the set guidelines and we are shocked on the move. Look at supermarkets there is no social distancing. Look at schools no social distancing," the committee Chairperson stated.

The men of God warned over prayers fasting upon Jubilee Administration for curse if the Government fail to heed to their call.

“We shall fast and pray until God revisits this government. Then, we will make sure we raise our hands to God so that he deals with this pharaoh government that doesn’t respect God," Martin added.

The threats follow the announcement made by the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi kagwe on Monday on 17th June. In his announcement, the cabinet Secretary suspended all physical gatherings in the Lake Region Counties. 

These counties are; Busia, Vihiga, Kisii, Nyamira, Kakamega, Kericho, Bomet, Bungoma, Trans-Nzoia, Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, and Migori.
