VIDEO: Soy MP Kositany Verbally Abuses Nandi MP Keter in a Viral Video

Caleb Kositany, a member of Parliament, is being accused of ethnic stereotyping after a video of him verbally abusing his Nandi Hills colleague, Alfred Keter, has gone viral.

In a video circulating on social media, Kositany accuses Keter of being an inept leader, relating to his ethnicity and dubbing him an outsider, during a public address.

According to sources privy to this publication, the Soy MP remarked that Keter was an outsider who was lucky to have been elected as an MP in a region dominated by his sub-tribe in the video.

He also urged leaders not to vote for Keter's re-election, claiming that the MP had grown disrespectful to the community and those with whom he works. Kositany invited Keter's sub-tribe elders to choose one of their sons and teach him how to live and work with others.

"If Keter was one of us, I would have asked the elders to back him for the parliamentary seat. But he is an outsider. We are telling his elders to come for their son and mentor him, to know how to work with people," the MP remarked.

The MP also advocated for sub-tribal alienation in the elections, particularly in North Rift areas. Members of the public have reacted negatively to his comments, prompting the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to investigate him.

While some Kenyans want the MP to apologize regardless of when he made the remarks, others believe he should be investigated and prosecuted.

At the same time, some Kenyans believe the remarks will harm Deputy President William Ruto's campaign.

The video surfaced just days after the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) revoked Keter's nomination, awarding the certificate to his rival, Bernard Kitur.
The irregularities and illegalities raised by Kitur were substantive, according to the UDA's Disputes Resolution Tribunal.

UDA also stated that it would investigate Keter for alleged voter bribery, intimidation, and harassment of nominations officials.

Legislators close to the Deputy President have accused Keter of betraying their trust. Oscar Sudi, MP for Kapseret, accused Keter of being an Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party stooge and urged his constituents to vote him out on August 9.
