In Merit, Isiolo-Wajir border, on Saturday, three people were killed and eight others injured following Intercommunal violence over grazing land.

Isiolo Police Commander Hassan Barua confirmed the occurrence and said officers had been dispatched to the area to deal with the matter.

According to the police chief, 600 stolen cattle heads were recovered during the operation.

He went on to say that the groups involved in the conflict had been at odds for a long time.

On April 9, nine people were killed while four others injured when suspected cattle rustlers struck in Isiolo County. Police said eight people died on the spot while the ninth died in hospital.

Bandits raided the Tiania area near the Meru-Isiolo border in Meru County on April 19, killing five people.

The early Tuesday incident, according to police, resulted in the deaths of some people and the beheading of others.

Residents in the region who protested the police taking the bodies of the deceased said they had tried unsuccessfully to improve security in the area.

On April 25, atleast five people were killed in separate incidents in Isiolo county as police announced plans to drive out cattle from some areas on April 25

Security teams said cattle were the alleged cause of the conflict that had claimed up to 15 lives in two weeks.
