Arsenal vs Villarreal: Arteta Says the Gunners will take the “biggest step forward” Tonight!!!

Villarreal won 2-1 in the first leg match a week ago, but Nicolas Pepe's second-half penalty handed Arsenal a crucial away goal.

The Gunners reached the Europa League final in 2019 under current Villarreal coach Unai Emery but they were beaten 4-1 in Baku by PL rivals Chelsea.

"I think it will be really important and our biggest step forward if we are able to be in that final and have the opportunity to win that trophy," Arteta said.

If Arsenal wins the Europa League tournament, it will raise the hopes of playing in next season's Champions League but Arteta knows a fifth successive season without qualifying for the UCL competition from their league position is far from ideal for the club.

Defender Kieran Tierney could be making a return to the side for the first time since suffering a knee injury in the defeat match against Liverpool in early April.

Alexandre Lacazette is also in doubt after overcoming a hamstring issue, but center-back David Luiz's hamstring injury will make it unlikely for him to feature.

Villarreal boss Emery Unai has however highlighted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a dangerous man in the second leg.
